NCTC Presents Family Reunion 2009

Come join us for our first Family Reunion! It is a potluck murder mystery!

The event will be held on June 20th at the theatre. Doors open at 6:30. Here's hwo it works. During the reunion, you and your team will follow the cast members around the gathering, listening to private conversations. You find clues, search for evident, and try to solve the crime.

The story is as follows: Scott Smith (known to the family as Great Scott), the patriarch of the Smith family (and holder of the family fortune), has called a reunion in order to make final changes to his will before he passes on. Everyone in the family feels they have a claim to the money. Each member wants to discredit the others in order to increase their own inheritance. Some people will stop at nothing to get that money...even murder!

You'll be assigned a place on the family tree (we're all related!).

Tickets are $10 each ($20 if you would like a commemorative t-shirt), and must be purchased in advance. To purchase tickets visit:

Improvisational Experiment

If you're looking for a completely unique evening out, NCTC presents Improvisational Experiment on June 6 at 8 pm.

A group of actors from NCTC are experimenting with a different form of improv. Their mission is to produce and perform a real and highly original play completely improvised based on the audience's decision.

The group will supply the audience with a list of five common literary themes as the starting point. The audience will select one of the 5 for the group to do a show about. They will break into pairs to brainstorm and perform. The audience will decide which stores progress until they get to their final scene. There will be three rounds. As each round ends, the audience will decide which storyline continues. Pairs that are eliminated are added into the remaining scenes until they are all in the last and final scene.

Organized by Jeff Allen and Spencer Jordan, the group also includes Susan Patterson, Trey Stephens, Leslie Ray, JohnPaul Phillips, and Kim Marshall.

The evening costs $25 and includes a meal, dessert, and drinks. Seating is limited to 60 people. You can purchase tickets online through our Ticket Leap link below or call the theatre for reservations.

Lucky Stiff Opens Friday!

It's time for this year's musical, Lucky Stiff, which opens this Friday at NCTC and runs for two weekends only.

This is a crazy, hilarious comedy with dancing and singing. You will definitely enjoy the evening as we follow the adventures of Harry as he takes his dead uncle on an adventure to Monte Carlo.

Make your reservations today by calling the theatre at (770) 683-6282 or emailing us at nctc@numail.org. Lucky Stiff is part of our 2009 season. It's being directed by Tony Peregoy. Tony has worked super hard on the show. I have really enjoyed working with him and I hope he directs for NCTC again.

Summer KidsCamp

Registration is open for summer KidsCamp! Theatre summer camp is very popular and many children attend every year. Children ages 5 to 12 learn how to put on a short play or skit in just one week. They will paint, become a character, create a costume, create a set, and much more. Older children sometimes even write their own play. The week-long camp culminates in a free performance on Saturday morning.

Half-day and full-day camp is offered. Click here for more information about KidsCamp, to download the registration form, or to register your child online.

Correcting & Clarifying

Our email list has over 450 members, I think it's time I triple or quadruple check before I send out an email! I do apologize for recent errors. My double checking hasn't been enough lately. They are just keeping me hopping at the theatre with so much going on this May!

Anyhow, Jennifer Dorrell is directing A Midsummer Night's Dream, as I've previously mentioned. Tony Peregoy is not. I was multi-tasking and cutting and pasting in my last NCTC email. Big mistake!

(Reminder - auditions for Midsummer are tomorrow and Tuesday! More details on our audition page.)

I also want to clarify the cost of the directing and acting classes coming up in June. It is $40 for the entire 8-week session. It is not $40 each week. That is, of course, unless you'd like to give the theatre that much for the class. We are a non-profit after all!

Fully Committed on Friday!

Here's Trey Stephens on the set of Fully Committed, his one-man show that opens this Friday, May 15th. It closes May 16th, so be sure not to miss it, as it's literally going to come one day and be gone the next!

Trey portrays 36 different characters. How he's keeping them all straight, I don't know! The main character is Sam. Sam handles reservations for a busy French restaurant in New York. Fully Committed is a comedy. I'm sure Trey is going to be exhausted at the end of it.

Lucky Stiff Set Sneak Peak

You can only imagine the amount of paint that goes into some theatre sets.

Lucky Stiff Director Tony Peregoy sent me this photo from today's painting day. Tony told me the plans for the stage weeks ago - a huge roulette wheel! I knew it was going to look really cool. Here it is so far.

Isn't that King of Hearts totally awesome looking? I can't wait to see this show! I've seen it before and this musical comedy is just hilarious. I will probably be in the audience more than once!

Today Kim Marshall, Taylor Marshall, Linden Marshall, Megan Martin, Sam Gentry, Renee Gentry, and Tony's Peregoy's sons spent a lot of time painting various pieces for Lucky Stiff . Tony tackled the floor.

Last Saturday, 12 builders and painters were at the theatre for a paint day.

It amazes me how many coats of paint have gone on the stage. After every show it is painted back to black.

Springtime Spruce Up

Check out the before and after photos from a gardening project at the theatre. What a difference! Thanks to Rosemary Coakley heading up this project. It looks really beautiful!
